Our Research And Statistics Into Medical Negligence

As medical negligence solicitors, we’re passionate about helping people recover from the ordeals they’ve been subjected to. We also care deeply about highlighting issues to hopefully ensure they don’t happen again. As a result, our team conducts in-depth research into myriad issues that affect our clients, from nurse and midwife misconduct to compensation payouts for medical negligence.

Below, you can find a breakdown of our different campaigns and links to learn more about each one.

Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Across The NHS

Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in England have long been under scrutiny with recent news headlines revealing record-level waiting times, an increase in referral numbers an apparent postcode lottery when it comes to accessing treatment.

Delayed Medical Treatment In The NHS

Delayed medical treatment is becoming more of an issue within the NHS. We knew this subjectively through the claim enquiries we receive. However, we wanted to get a clear idea of the situation, so we set out to conduct our own research on delayed medical treatment.

Discover how we conducted our research as well as the statistics and results we’ve compiled from our findings here.

Dentistry Complaints In England

Complaints about dental care in England have hit a record high as patients continue to struggle to get appointments.

Our investigation revealed there were more complaints to the Parliamentary and Health Services Ombudsman about dentistry this year than in the previous five years.

With more and more parts of the UK now being considered ‘dental deserts,’ where 100% of dentists are not taking on new patients, Medical Negligence Assist set out to investigate the current state of dentistry across England.

Fatal Cancer Misdiagnosis and Diagnosis Delays In The NHS

Our investigation arose from concerns surrounding cancer diagnosis delays and misdiagnoses in the UK in recent years.

In November last year, Cancer Research UK warned that the UK’s progress in treating the disease is at risk of stalling due to slow and late diagnosis coupled with treatment delays.

Medical Negligence Assist sent Freedom of Information Requests to every UK NHS Trust to find out the number of fatalities due to delayed cancer diagnosis and misdiagnosis.

NHS Mental Health Negligence Claims

Mental health patients are among the most vulnerable in society, but services in England have been under huge strain for at least a decade, with sometimes fatal consequences.

The long-awaited Lampard Inquiry began on Monday, September 9 and is the first public inquiry specifically looking into mental health deaths.

It coincides with Medical Negligence Assist’s latest investigation into mental health clinical negligence across the NHS.

We revealed that the health service has paid out £121m over poor care in mental health and psychiatry services in the last five years including, £51m over claims related to death, £28m for claims relating to failures or delays in treatment and a further £18m over claims related to self-harm.

Nursing and Midwifery Misconduct

The past year has seen numerous cases of misconduct involving nurses and midwives making headlines across the UK, most notably perhaps is that of former neonatal nurse, Lucy Letby.

With more and more of these cases seemingly coming to light, Medical Negligence Assist set out to investigate further.

We uncovered a shocking rise in the number of nurses and midwives being struck off across the UK.
